The Human Race is a community fundraising event that allows participants to raise money for their favorite nonprofit organization (agency, church, school PTA, etc.). In the past 15 years, hundreds of local nonprofits have raised more than 3.5 million through the Triad’s Human Race. On Race Day, fundraisers gather at Grimsley High School to walk, run, or roll in support of their chosen nonprofit. You can participate in The Human Race as an individual fundraiser or work together as a team. Race Day features a 5K walk and competitive run, free food, live music, prizes, and other activities. The Triad’s local Human Race is planned, managed, and promoted by The Volunteer Center of Greensboro, Inc., a nonprofit that strengthens our community by connecting people to meaningful volunteer opportunities.

Additional Information About The Human Race
The Human Race began in California as a way to allow nonprofits to participate in a large, community-wide fundraising event. Nonprofits recruit walkers and runners to collect funds for their cause. The Human Race is unique because participants choose the nonprofit they want to support. The quotes below are two examples of how local nonprofits benefit from funds raised through The Human Race.
“Gateway Education Center serves students with severe mental and physical disabilities, and funds raised from The Human Race help us to purchase specialized equipment that allows our students to achieve their educational goals.” - Phyllis Page
“Bell House provides residential services to adults with physical disabilities and The Human Race gives us the ability to make improvements to their homes. Our residents take pride in raising funds through The Human Race and deciding as a group how the funds will be used.” - Carrie Cummings
The Volunteer Center of Greensboro has coordinated the Triad’s Human Race for the past 15 years.
